Over the past few years, Murrook Culture Centre has created a series of amazing multimedia installations that bring local stories, history and culture to life in new and powerful ways.

Our award-winning digital experience is one of the most popular attractions inside the Murrook gallery. Designed to educate, inspire and connect, this immersive experience uses technology to share truth, culture and community perspectives in a way that resonates with all ages. It’s available most days inside our information gallery space (subject to exhibitions on display).

Visitors are invited to take a seat, slow down and truly engage. Spend time listening to the voices of Elders and community members, who are regular visitors to Murrook and always happy to yarn, share stories and pass on knowledge. This exchange (listening, learning and sharing your own story or connection) is what Murrook is all about.

As you explore, play and learn through animated narratives and interactive displays, you’ll uncover a deeper understanding of our region and its long, complex history. Many visitors are surprised to discover stories not widely known, like the moment when the Australian Agricultural Company took over Port Stephens, a pivotal part of the area’s past that shaped much of what we see today.

At Murrook, every story has meaning. Every visitor is part of the journey.
